The Closing of a ChapterI really never thought that it would be a big deal to me, but I have. Walked up on stage wearing a dress and a board on my head, and got a piece of paper with my middle name spelled wrong on it. Even so, it was still a fantastic experience.
High school graduation is like a mini-reunion, really. You get to see everyone you went to school with after two or three weeks of not seeing a lot of them, and it's like you just got out of school. I can only wonder what will become of all these people. To be frank, some of their futures don't seem to bright in my eyes, but who am I to judge? I some artsy little 18-year-old (Turned 18 on the 7th of June), a little rich white-boy nerd who's lived in Florida his whole life, squeezed his way through high school, and is going to the University of Denver. For all I know, in ten years' time I could be designing some supercar for Ferrari, trying to sell my paintings to make a living, calculating the telemetry for a manned mission to Mars for NASA, or teaching high school seniors everything I've been taught. College is the grand completion of the great circle of education.
You see, in elementary school, they teach you everything you need to know, life morals and values and how to read and count. Relevant things. Then through middle and high school they teach you how to win Jeopardy!; like how many protons are on potassium atom, and the correct rhyme scheme for a Shakespearean sonnet. Then comes college, and you learn things that you need to know.
Seeing as how I'm going into an art program, I would like requests, art trades, anything to keep me from stagnating into a useless lump.
